Intrapreneurs are employees who act like entrepreneurs within an existing organization. They have the mindset, skills and passion to innovate and create value for their customers and stakeholders. Intrapreneurs are not satisfied with the status quo and are always looking for ways to improve processes, products and services.

In this blog post, I will share some examples of intrapreneurial success stories from different industries and sectors. These stories demonstrate how intrapreneurs are making a difference in established companies by solving problems, seizing opportunities and driving change.

Google

Google is known for its culture of innovation and experimentation. One of the ways Google fosters intrapreneurship is through its 20% time policy, which allows employees to spend 20% of their time on projects of their own interest. This policy has led to the creation of many successful products, such as Gmail, Google News, Google Maps and AdSense.

3M

3M is a multinational company that produces a variety of products, ranging from adhesives to medical devices. 3M encourages intrapreneurship by giving employees the freedom and resources to pursue their own ideas. One of the most famous examples of intrapreneurship at 3M is the invention of Post-it notes by Art Fry and Spencer Silver in 1974. They developed the idea of sticky notes after facing a problem with bookmarks falling out of their hymn books.

Netflix

Netflix is a leading streaming service that offers a wide range of movies and shows. Netflix supports intrapreneurship by empowering its employees to make decisions and take risks. One of the examples of intrapreneurship at Netflix is the development of the recommendation algorithm by Carlos Gomez-Uribe and Neil Hunt in 2006. They improved the accuracy and personalization of the recommendations by using machine learning and data analysis
