New technology coming to marketing in 2023

It’s a new year which means, another year of new technological advancements coming to the marketing industry. From artificial intelligence to automation, there is a lot to be excited about and a lot to potentially to be concerned about.  

1. Artificial Intelligence

2023 will definitely go down as a big year for artificial intelligence especially in light of the growth in popularity and success of ChatGPT. Expect to see many agencies and marketing department figuring out a way to implement A.I. According to an article by (The Economist, 2022) a survey by McKinsey, a consultancy, found that in 2022 year 50% of firms across the world had tried to use A.I in some way, up from 20% in 2017. I think one of the first areas of marketing that will be affected or will have to adopt will be content marketing, for example there could be fully optimized content for each stage of the marketing funnel created by A.I. Companies like Samsung have already begun using artificial intelligence to write and post marketing content on their various platforms. 

2. VR and AR

Expect Virtual and Augmented Reality to make huge waves this year in marketing, especially with Apple’s expected announcement of a VR/AR headset (rumored to release later this year), which will most likely push more adaption across the world and development in the area. In regard to areas of marketing that you can expect VR/AR to have an impact would be the shopping experience, events, experiential marketing, brand interaction and app Integrations just to list a few.  

3. Automation

Automation has been around for some time, expect to see even more tools and services to be created around solving or eliminating repetitive marketing tasks. According to (Tech News Heads, 2022) areas of marketing that you can expect to be affected by the adoption of automation are the following: personalized content (personalized videos or photos), automated social media marketing, mobile marketing automation, chatbots, and personalized email automation.

2023 will certainly go down as a big year for technology and marketing especially with ever evolving technology and tools being developed each and every day. Artificial intelligence will definitely play a larger role in marketing than ever before, automation will definitely take on even more repetitive tasks in marketing and I believe that VR/AR will see an increase in popularity and adaption, if Apple ends up releasing their VR/AR headset this year.
